If you live in Etobicoke, you've probably heard of Kitchen on Sixth. Several people recommended it to me. I'd already been once for lunch, so this time I went back for breakfast.

Arriving on a Sunday

We got there around 10:30 on a Sunday morning and every table was taken, which is a good sign. They offered us seats at the bar while we waited, so I ordered a latte. Watching it being made, I wasn't sure the barista really knew espresso, but it turned out fine.

After 10–15 minutes we got a table. The restaurant was so busy that they split a four-person table into two to seat us faster. We ordered the Full English breakfast and the French toast.

Full English Breakfast

The food came out quickly. I was especially excited for the Full English. I'd watched a few YouTube videos about English breakfasts and wanted to try one, but I hadn't found many places that serve it.

It comes with eggs, British bangers, peameal bacon, black pudding, white pudding, British beans, grilled tomato, sautéed mushrooms, house-cut fries and toast. The black pudding was my favourite, and the beans on toast were interesting too.

It's a lot of food, and I only finished half. Next time I'll get the Half English: eggs, grilled tomato, potatoes and toast, plus your choice of bangers, peameal or beans.

French Toast

The French toast was delicious too. It's thick-cut brioche with strawberry elderflower ricotta, strawberry compote, shortbread crumble and syrup. Soft and sweet, with lots of flavour from the strawberry in the ricotta and compote.

Atmosphere and Service

The restaurant isn't big, but it's warm, cozy and comfortable. There were three servers, one at the bar and two on the floor, and all of them were friendly. Service was a bit slow, probably because it was so busy, but I was happy overall.

Inside Kitchen on Sixth

They also run daily dinner specials with a different menu each night. I'd recommend Kitchen on Sixth to anyone looking for a hearty brunch or dinner in Etobicoke.
