So many people had recommended 850 Degrees Pizzeria to me that I was thrilled when I finally got to try it. It's one of the most popular dining spots in Etobicoke, and after this visit I understand why.

Getting a Table

I went on an early Saturday evening, and most of the tables were already reserved. They still found me a table right away, but because I didn't have a reservation I only had 45 minutes to eat.

The decor is simple and casual. The star of the room is the wood-fired brick oven and the pizza-making station, which are fun to watch.

The Menu

The menu covers pizzas, salads, pastas and appetizers, with plenty of good vegetarian options. Everything sounded delicious, which made choosing hard.

The Pizza

I settled on the Bloor by the Park and the Rocket. Both were excellent: thin dough, a crispy crust with just the right amount of chew, and fresh, flavourful sauce and toppings.

My only small complaint was that the centre of each pizza was a little wet. The crust went soggy there, and some toppings slid off. It was a bit messy, but it didn't take away from the meal.

The pizzas come with chili oil, and it's amazing. A few drops add a whole new depth of flavour, so don't skip it.

Portions are generous. I was full halfway through.

Final Thoughts

The pizza was really good, and the servers were friendly and accommodating. They even apologized for only being able to give me a short time slot. I did feel a little rushed with 45 minutes, so next time I'll book ahead. I'm already looking forward to going back for the pasta and a few more pizzas.

Tip: Make a reservation, especially on weekend evenings.
